Registration for this event closes at Wed 30 Jun 2027 21:00.
Dragon Start is available by registration on Saturday mornings and is your first opportunity to try dragon boat paddling. You need to register online prior to paddling in order to be covered by our insurance.
We paddle from 7:30am until 9am on Saturday mornings. You will be met by coaches at 7am. They will fit you with a paddle and life jacket and to give you initial instruction on land. You will join members for a warm up, then a paddle on the spectacular Tweed River.
Do feel welcome to join other club members after paddling for a coffee and chat at one of the cafés over the road from the boat ramp.
Purpose - DragonStart is the nationally endorsed single-session introductory experience for Dragon Boat in Australia. Its purpose is to provide a low-commitment, first-exposure to Dragon Boat.
Eligibility - DragonStart is strictly limited to individuals who are new to Dragon Boat, and have not previously held membership with a Dragon Boat Club in Australia. An individual may only access DragonStart once nationally. DragonStart must not be used as a casual participation product, as a repeat option, for returning or lapsed members or to avoid DragonPass registration.
Duration and Scope - DragonStart provides access to one (1) supervised session, orientation and introductory instruction, and participation under direct supervision. DragonStart does not provide ongoing training access, regatta eligibility, membership privileges, or access beyond the single session. If a participant wishes to continue after their session, they must register for a DragonPass or a full membership.
